Mary Katrantzou Summer 2013 Runway Show at London
LONDON – Mary Katrantzou is known for her digital and three dimensional prints, but also for her sculpted dresses. So what surprises did the designer have in store for us this London Fashion Week? For the Spring 2013, Katrantzou decided to use stamps to display the exotic flavor of her dresses this season as well as tell the story of travel and different cultures. For this queen of prints who is perfect at blending patterns with unique architectural silhouettes, the collection seemed to speak for itself, going bold but never overboard. She used stamps and banknotes on shift dresses, shirtdresses, tulip skirts, button downs, streamlined pants and just about every other shape you can think of. This, along with the combination of embellishment fabrics like brocade, provided the perfect backdrop for a stellar collection which many are saying is her best yet.
