Maison Martin Margiela’s First Couture Show – Winter 2012 at Paris

PARIS – This is Maison Martin Margiela’s first-ever couture runway show and the label came in with both statements and subtleties. Models’ faces were covered with masks that altogether made up more than 2,400 sparkling crystals. Talk about statement! The smart subtleties came in the 15-look “Artisanal” collection crafted entirely by hand, with intricacies in clothes that looked simple, but were obviously made with attention to detail. Vintage lace, sleeveless jackets and a bolero made of baseball gloves were all found here. The jacket was based on a 1905 coat and had a closure based on a crystal doorknob from NYC.
