Bridal Fashion by Yumi Katsura

TOKYO – On this month’s Tokyo Fashion News, Navigator George Williams gives us an exclusive look at the Yumi Katsura 2012 Grand Collection in Tokyo which features wedding fashion plus the luxurious relaunch opening party of Dior in Ginza.
Popular wedding dress designer Yumi Katsura launched her 2012 Grand Collection at the Tokyo Dome City Hall. The theme for this collection was “The Wind of Asia” and the line featured romantic gowns, unique dresses, and traditional wedding attire infused with the energy of national costumes from China, Korea, and Japan. “I think this century belong to Asia,” Katsura said. “I wish that Asia will be filled with beautiful weddings.” Figure skater Miki Ando made an appearance in a wedding dress designed especially for her. Other celebrities, like actors HuBing and Park Si-Hoo did, as well. One dress used the lightest silk in the world at 5 grams per meter and that last dress made of lace and pearls took 6 months to complete.

An exhibition called “Lady Dior As Seen By” was held at Christian Dior in Ginza to celebrate the relaunch opening. Seventy top artists joined this party and over 70 items from top artists, photographers, and movie directors were on display. The new look of the store also grabbed attention. Celebrities like French actress Louise Bourgoin and Japanese model/actress Izumi Mori dropped by for the occasion.
