Todd Lynn Fall 2012: Kitschy Cool at London Fashion Week

LONDON – Toddy Lynn is known as a technical designer, who is very precise with his craft. Which makes us wonder why he decided to go all kitschy on us this season at London Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012-2013. Lynn was inspired by Norwegian painter Odd Nerdrum’s definition of kitsch as a structure for figurative and non-ironic paintings, not necessarily in bad taste. What did this mean for Lynn? Not corny designs, as one might imagine. Instead, he went for simple structures and wide widths with an architectural element. Some draping was involved and pieces were mixed together with various fabrics. We’re not too sure how this lives up to the kitschy definition we’ve commonly used but if Todd Lynn is doing it, we’ll take it!
