J.Mendel Fall 2012

NEW YORK – In stark contrast to the loud colors of Spring/Summer 2012 and even Fall/Winter 2012-2013, where shows like Donna Karan and Peter Som displayed deep fuchsias and kaleidoscope prints, J. Mendel went in the opposite direction when he decided to focus on softer shapes and muted colors. This consisted mainly of furs, but also furs laid on tulle. He juxtaposed these soft shapes and neutral colors with a few boxy jackets, but never forgot about that soft balloon effect on tops and bottoms. Ironically, the brand, which is known for its glamorous red carpet gowns had nothing dramatic or breathtaking here, but Hollywood stars will definitely lap up his pieces, as they always do.
